The benefit of having a virtual presence for your business cannot be stress enough. If you are not familiar with the inner workings of the internet, then you can greatly benefit from consulting an internet consultant. This person knows how your business can take benefit the internet and how to use it to your advantage.

The problem is that there are many of them offering this kind service to business owners and the result is not a guaranteed success. It is important therefore to choose the right person for the job. He must be competent enough to let you see the result of his efforts. The results are quantifiable. This should translate to increased sales in the business, more people getting to know your business.

It is not just enough that people know about your business. The team of people that you will get for this job should be able to give you a high conversion rate. Conversion rate is when people convert to real buyers where they are no longer just merely visitors to the site but they convert to paying clients of yours. They now actually buy your product or service.

That is what conversion rate is all about. Know that promoting your business online means more than just creating a website for your business. Online promotional campaigns entail more than that and the person you will hire for this service should be able to let you understand that.

Beware of internet gurus because they are mostly full of hype but with fewer results. Look for experts who really know what they are talking about and are results oriented. First thing that you will do is to ask your colleagues if they have tried online promotions for their business.

If they do, then ask who the big guy they got for the job. You might be able to benefit from the same person who did their online promotions. If you do not have someone who can refer you to experts in online promotional campaign, then you can do your own search.

Search through the internet. Although there are many scams on the internet, if you know what you are looking for and you know how to scrutinize the scams from the legitimate ones, then you can do this on your own. Consultants and businesses that are into this service also have websites. Check their own ranking.

If they rank well in search engines in their own category, then that is a good reflection of what they do as a search engine marketing company. Contact them right away and tell them that you are interested to commission their service. Set a preliminary interview to lay down everything that you need for this campaign and hear what they have to offer. If everything else goes well, then seal the deal.

PFT: Eagles owner says Reid's job on line this year

Philadelphia Eagles Sign Michael VickGetty Images

In January, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie strongly hinted that coach Andy Reid is on the hot seat.? During a Thursday press conference, Lurie basically acknowledged it.

Lurie said he would make no decisions about Reid?s contract until after the 2012 season.? With Reid signed through 2013 and with Reid?s agent, Bob LaMonte, already posturing for an extension, Lurie?s words initially seemed to reflect his intentions regarding the question of whether Reid will get a new deal that applies beyond 2013.

As Lurie continued, it became more clear that, depending on 2012, there may be no 2013.

?I expect a substantially improved team,? Lurie said.? ?We all thought we were a lot better than 8-8 and we weren?t.?

This year, 8-8 apparently won?t be good enough to get Reid one more year.? ?We need substantial improvement,? Lurie said.? ?We have a very good team on paper, and paper doesn?t get you that far if you don?t maximize it.?

Lurie explained that there?s no specific level of achievement that will guarantee Reid?s return.? ?You try to make the best judgment you can after the season,? Lurie said.

There will be no formula regarding the right decision.? ?It?ll be very clear,? Lurie said.

While Lurie acknowledged that another 8-8 season could be excused by a rash of injuries, he reiterated that, generally, ?8-8 is unacceptable . . . that was a really unacceptable outcome.?

Thus, regardless of how it all turns out, Reid is officially on notice.? And Lamonte?s assertion that Lurie essentially has promised Reid a job for life has been completely debunked.

Whether Reid returns for a 15th season depends directly on how the 14th season unfolds.

University of Leicester researchers gain UK's first Exhalyzer-D device

University of Leicester medical scientists have secured funding for a piece of state-of-the-art equipment to help with their research into children's breathing.

The team of researchers working at Leicester Royal Infirmary have purchased the UK's first Exhalyzer-D, a highly-specialised device made in Switzerland.

Its purchase was made possible through the award of grants from Midlands Asthma and Allergy Research Association (MAARA) and the Maud Elkington Trust to Dr Caroline Beardsmore and Dr Erol Gaillard of the Department of Infection, Immunity & Inflammation, combined with matched funding from the University of Leicester.

The new equipment is designed to perform a family of tests known as washout tests, which yield information about how efficiently the fresh air inspired with each breath is distributed throughout the lungs. The tests are not painful and require the child to breathe quietly in and out of the machine for a couple of minutes or so.

Dr Beardsmore said: "Our previous equipment for washout tests was completely obsolete and was breaking down on a frequent basis. It can no longer be repaired. This new equipment uses different technology and is much quicker to set up and use. The results are available almost immediately, which was not the case before."

Dr Gaillard added: "The real beauty of this test is that it provides information about what happens in the depths of the lung, at the level of the tiny airspaces, which is not possible with any other breathing tests. We are already using it with patients and it is proving very successful."

Steve Watson, Chairman of MAARA, said: "When we were told of the benefits of this equipment and how it could be used to diagnose children in a relatively stress-free way, the committee were unanimous in agreeing that MAARA contribute funding to replace it. This will allow the LRI team to continue using an important technique which would not otherwise have been funded."

(AP) ? Around the 2012 Republican National Convention and its host city with journalists from The Associated Press bringing the flavor and details to you:

__

THERE HE IS

The song playing was "My Girl" by The Temptations as Mitt Romney made his first appearance at the Republican National Convention to congratulate his wife, Ann, after her speech Tuesday night.

They kissed. He grinned. She grinned. The crowd roared. The whole thing lasted less than 30 seconds. And the newly minted GOP presidential nominee was gone ? at least for the moment.

? Ted Anthony ? Twitter http://www.twitter.com/anthonyted

___

THEY GOT THE MEMO

The GOP convention's Tuesday theme is "We Built It," and nearly every speaker is hitting that note.

A sampling:

"Mitt Romney was not handed success. He built it." ? Ann Romney, wife of the nominee.

"No guarantees. No government there to hold your hand. Just a dream and the desire to do better. President Obama doesn't get this. He can't fix the economy because he doesn't know how it was built." ? House Speaker John Boehner.

"They tell us we didn't build our businesses. That somebody else made it happen. They tell us not to dream, but to settle. You and I know America is better than that." ? Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval.

"Big government didn't build America: You built America! Small businesses don't come out of Washington, D.C., pre-made on flatbed trucks." ? Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.

? Connie Cass ?Twitter http://twitter.com/ConnieCass

___

HONORING MOM

Directly on the heels of Ann Romney's outreach to women, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is crafting his speech, too, around a woman ? his mother.

Christie says it was his mother who taught him the key lessons of life ? including, Christie says, that sometimes it's more important to be respected than loved. Christie said his mother was the family's enforcer.

The Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, is believed to be lagging President Barack Obama in gaining women's votes. It's probably no coincidence that so much focus on this key night of the Republican convention is devoted to praising ? indeed, lauding ? strong women.

? Sally Buzbee

___

WE BUILT IT

Two business people who spoke to the Republican convention's "we built it" theme also received some help from Uncle Sam.

Phil Archuletta of New Mexico-based P&M Signs assailed the Obama administration for nearly "putting us out of business" because of changes in procurement rules. He also lamented that "nothing happened" from his requests for stimulus money. A review of government data found P&M Signs received more than $340,000 in federal stimulus contracts under President Barack Obama.

Another speaker, Sher Valenzuela, took aim at government involvement in business. She received $17 million in federal contracts and loans, the liberal watchdog Media Matters first reported Tuesday.

One of the convention's themes is that small-business owners created their success through their own hard work, not by reliance on government. It's a dig at Obama's much-maligned remarks that entrepreneurs rely on government-supported infrastructure that they "didn't build."

QUICKQUOTE: CHRIS CHRISTIE

"I don't want my children and grandchildren to have to read in a history book what it was like to live in an American Century." ? New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, delivering the keynote speech Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention.

ANN ON MITT

"This man will not fail." ? Ann Romney, on her husband.

___

SANTORUM GLIMPSES

In a tightly controlled convention, there are surprisingly few echoes or reminders of the long and sometimes chaotic Republican primary fight that dominated political news coverage in the first part of the year. But former Sen. Rick Santorum's speech gave a rare flashback to that primary fight.

On a night when many speakers focused on the ailing economy and how to best fix it, Santorum took a different tack and focused mostly on social issues such as single parenthood, the Education Department and welfare. Another reminder of those winter and early spring primaries: the proud smiles of two of his daughters ? so often seen as the daughters stood behind him as he talked.

This time, the daughters were in the audience, but their proud, fond smiles as their father spoke were a vivid reminder of the primary days.

? Sally Buzbee

___

JUST HANGING AROUND

The balloons are ready.

They won't fall to the convention floor in vivid red, blue and white disarray until Mitt Romney gives his acceptance speech on Thursday night. But they're waiting ? tied up in big nets hanging high from the ceiling of the Forum in Tampa where Republican National Convention delegates are meeting.

Volunteers helped tie the balloons and lifted them to the ceiling before the convention started. Nestled among them are some huge, white beach ball-looking balloons ? it will be interesting to see how those fall.

? Sally Buzbee

______

QUICKQUOTE: ANN ROMNEY

"We're too smart to know there aren't easy answers. But we're not dumb enough to accept that there aren't better answers. And that is where this boy I met at a high school dance comes in. His name is Mitt Romney and you should really get to know him." ? Ann Romney, in her convention address, speaking about her husband.

___

ENCOURAGING WORDS

A quick exchange between Mitt and Ann Romney, at their hotel before they left for the convention hall:

Mitt Romney: "Break a leg ? you'll do great"

Ann Romney: "I am excited. I am not nervous."

___

FADING DREAM?

The Republican Party's convention speeches are putting emphasis on restoring the American Dream. People's faith in the concept does seem to be fading.

A Pew Research Center poll released Monday found 63 percent say "most people who want to get ahead can make it if they're willing to work hard," down from a high of 74 percent in 1999.

Another third say hard work is no guarantee of success.

? Jennifer Agiesta ? Twitter http://twitter.com/jennagiesta

___

ROMNEY ALL BUT IGNORED

The rivalry between Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney calmed enough for Romney to give his one-time bitter rival a speaking slot at his nominating convention. It didn't calm enough for Santorum to have much positive to say about his Republican Party's presumptive presidential nominee.

Santorum, the former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania who was the final obstacle between Romney and enough delegates to capture the nomination, only mentioned Romney at the tail end of his speech on the first night of the party's convention. Judging from his speech, he still doesn't have a lot good to say about the man he once called "''the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama."

Santorum's speech script ran 1,150 words before he uttered Romney's name.

After? Just 28 words were scripted before Santorum exited the stage.

? Philip Elliott ? Twitter http://twitter.com/philip_elliott

___

'WE DIDN'T LET GO'

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum told the story of his 4-year-old daughter Bella, born with a serious genetic condition. Doctors advised the Santorums that Bella wouldn't live long and they should "prepare to let her go."

"We didn't let go, and today Bella is full of life and she has made our lives and countless others much more worth living," he said.

In his speech to the Republican convention, the former presidential candidate related Bella's story to the party's anti-abortion stance:

"I thank God that America still has one party that reaches out their hands in love to lift up all of God's children ? born and unborn ? and says that each of us has dignity and all of us have the right to live the American Dream."

? Connie Cass ?Twitter http://twitter.com/ConnieCass

___

WHAT THE CAMERA DOESN'T SHOW

Ever wonder what really happens on the floor during a political convention? Is everyone really sitting there rapt, hanging on the speaker of the hour's every word.

No, actually. Big parts of the convention are taken up by kibitzing. It's the real action at conventions.

True, the delegates do pay attention to the speeches, and they cheer especially when a particularly good speaker comes on or when it's someone from their home state. But the aisles are also thronged with people talking, catching up with friends or buttonholing officials to get their ear.

And the walkways behind the arena are even busier ? filled with people chatting, arranging meetings, grabbing food and looking for famous faces.

And unlike a basketball or hockey game, almost no one ever shouts "down in front."

? Sally Buzbee

___

'I SHOOK THE HAND OF THE AMERICAN DREAM'

Rick Santorum, the candidate who waged the most persistent challenge to Mitt Romney's nomination, says campaigning across America convinced him the American Dream can be restored:

"Why? I held its hand. I shook the hand of the American Dream. And it has a strong grip," Santorum told the Republican National Convention.

"I shook hands of farmers and ranchers who made America the bread basket of the world. ...

"I grasped dirty hands with scars that come from years of labor in the oil and gas fields, mines and mills. ...

"I clasped hands of men and women in uniform and their families. Hands that sacrifice and risk all to protect and keep us free. ....

"I held hands that are in want. Hands looking for the dignity of a good job, hands growing weary of not finding one but refusing to give up hope."

? Connie Cass ?Twitter http://twitter.com/ConnieCass

___

THE NON-EVENT?

Media strategist Fred Davis, who advised GOP Sen. John McCain in his 2008 presidential run, remembers watching the conventions with his parents "until my eyes couldn't stay open any longer." They were highly scripted even back then, but they somehow felt like more of an "event."

This year, Davis didn't even bother leaving his Santa Barbara, Calif., home to attend the Republican National Convention

"It's not getting more intimate," he says. "It's getting less."

Davis says the "worst speech I ever gave in my life" was one he delivered to a high school in Tulsa, Okla. His mistake: Working from a text.

Davis says making someone like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie work with a teleprompter in Tampa, Fla., "strikes me as a mistake."

"You have one of the great from-the-heart speakers in the world," he says. "Chris Christie will do fine, because he's a very skilled orator. But it won't be what it could have been ... and the reason is they want to control every word that he says."

? Allen G. Breed ? Twitter http://twitter.com/AllenGBreed

___

WALKER LOVE

Some Republican office holders are more popular than others with their party.

Each speaker Tuesday night got enthusiastic applause. But as Gov Scott Walker of Wisconsin took the stage, the Forum in Tampa erupted into a standing ovation. Walker is a hero to his party and to conservatives nationwide after surviving a recall effort in his state in a bitter fight with Democrats. Walker tussled with Democrats in his state over multiple issues, including collective bargaining rights for public employees.

NOMINATION BY THE NUMBERS

The final delegate vote tally from the Republican National Convention on Tuesday:

?Ron Paul: 190

?Rick Santorum: 9

?Jon Huntsman: 1

?Michelle Bachmann: 1

?Buddy Roemer: 1

?Abstained/undecided/did not vote: 23

EMPTY STREETS

Downtown Tampa business owners once saw the Republican National Convention as an opportunity to make a profit. Now they're just hoping to break even.

That's because Tampa's streets are deserted, its restaurants nearly empty, thanks to a delay in convention activities caused by nasty weather, and tight security that makes getting around downtown akin to navigating a labyrinth.

"This has been a ghost town," business owner Jeff Morzella said Tuesday, standing outside his restaurant named FRESH.

Streets surrounding his locale were barricaded. The biggest source of downtown traffic for the past few days has been police officers on bicycles, but they have been eating at meal stations catered by outsiders, not local restaurants, Morzella said. Still, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn is optimistic that by the end of the week, economic gains will outweigh losses.

"I think when we're all said and done with this, this will have a huge economic impact on the city," he said.

? Mike Schneider ? Twitter http://twitter.com/mikeschneiderap

___

IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH

Americans listening to Ann Romney's speech Tuesday night may relate to her story of love and its challenges.

Though the share of Americans who are married has declined in the last half century, many have found wedded happiness and see love as the central feature of a marriage. A 2010 Pew Research Center/Time poll found that 93 percent of married adults said love was a vital reason they got married. And most single Americans said love was the most important reason to get married. In that same year's General Social Survey, 63 percent of married people described their marriages as "very happy."

Married women typically make up about a third of voters in presidential election years, according to exit polling. In 2008, they broke 51 percent for John McCain to 47 percent for Barack Obama. The group last supported a Democrat in 1996, when 48 percent backed Clinton, 43 percent Dole and 7 percent Perot. Unmarried women, though, break solidly in favor of Democrats: Seventy percent of them backed Obama in 2008.

Mrs. Romney's experience with breast cancer could resonate with a sizable share of the public as well. A Gallup/USA Today poll in 2011 found that 78 percent of Americans know someone who has had breast cancer. Nearly half of women have either had the disease themselves or seen a close friend or family member fall victim.

? Jennifer Agiesta ? Twitter http://twitter.com/jennagiesta

___

'A REAL MARRIAGE'

Ann Romney will take to the Republican National Convention stage to proclaim her marriage is just like everyone else's ? contrary to glamorous depictions she's seen written about her and her husband.

"A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage," she says in excerpts of her speech released before its delivery later Tuesday. "At every turn in his life, this man I met at a high school dance, has helped lift up others."

In the fairytales she's read, Romney said, there were never "long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called 'MS'" ? multiple sclerosis ? "or 'Breast Cancer.'"

? Jack Gillum ? Twitter http://twitter.com/jackgillum

___

THE ALSO-RANS

They're long gone from the presidential race, but not totally forgotten.

Jon Huntsman picked up a delegate from Texas during Tuesday's roll call of states.

So did Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum.

Even Buddy Roemer ? the little-noticed candidate who ran this year first as a Republican, then as an independent ? was rewarded with a single delegate when Texas doled out its votes.

Despite the hard-fought primary, Bachmann, for her part, professed no hard feelings.

"Congratulations to (at)MittRomney, Republican Nominee for President!" she wrote on Twitter, minutes after Romney officially clinched the nomination.

? Josh Lederman ? Twitter http://twitter.com/joshledermanAP

__

ROMNEY THE NOMINEE

The state of Alabama pronounced itself "on the move." American Samoa touted itself as "the only American soil in the Southern Hemisphere."

They and more than 30 of the union's other states and territories have already cast their delegates to Mitt Romney, and at this moment ? just over two months before Election Day ? he has been officially nominated as the Republican Party's presidential candidate.

New Jersey was the state that put Romney over the top. Romney is expected to accept the nomination Thursday night on the Republican convention's final night.

Saving Money on Craft Supplies - Wicked Cheap in Boston

Last week, the folks at NerdWallet contacted me to see if they could do a guest post. ?I hadn?t heard of NerdWallet before but their Coupons tool is pretty great.

We compare thousands of deals across 20 different rewards programs to help you find the best discounts and coupons that aren?t found on traditional coupon sites. ?In fact, you don?t even need coupons to get them! If you already have a credit card, or if you use travel loyalty rewards (like frequent flyer miles), you?re already eligible.

Sounds pretty helpful, right? Give it a try.?

John from?NerdWallet?is passionate about frugal living and making the most of his hard-earned money. He enjoys spending time with his family and finding time to do the little things. Today, he?s sharing examples of how you can save money while crafting!

When it comes to arts and crafts time, for any occasion, it seems like some little accessory is always missing. Instead of running to the store to buy a bunch of art supplies you are likely to use only once, try crafting your project with the materials you have. Whatever it is you are creating, it is common to find ways to utilize foreign materials for your project. Replacing sought after crafting supplies with ones you already have can save money and a trip to the local craft store. Making due with materials at hand will also result in creative artistry, which is the best-influenced art!

The main goal of almost any art project is aesthetics, no matter what it is that you are crafting, and you want it to look good. However, avoiding costs for supplies is always a plus, and making something from scratch just boosts your morale that much more (I know homemade cookies when I taste them).

When I decided to spare myself a bit of free time, I decided to make a family scrapbook to ease my mind (I couldn?t think of a better way to achieve this than an arts and crafts project). Yet, instead of running to the local crafts store, I took to what I had. I pulled out the old art supplies box and foraged for some colored paper and many useful embellishments. I then recovered some old wallpaper samples, wrapping paper, and a few other textiles/fabrics I had lying around from previous use. (Using old home d?cor in crafting is quite fun. Also, it can be an excuse to go find more furnishings ? just make sure you use appropriate home d?cor coupons to save a buck).

Along with the household glue, markers, yarn, and hole puncher, I was able to create a masterpiece! (Ok, it was in no way, shape, or form a masterpiece, but I had a great time assembling it, reliving memories of the past, and sharing it with my family). In my opinion, the creation was the best part, and recycling all my supplies was extremely gratifying. So if you don?t mind sacrificing a little bit of extra flare for saved time and some money saved, I definitely suggest trying an arts and crafts project with what you have.

Sometimes, however, scraping the bottom of the barrel just isn?t good enough for the craft you had in mind.? If you?re looking for great deals on arts and crafts supplies, I recommend Joann, either online or in person. Joann, a fabric and crafts specialty store, offers everyday low prices on a variety of crafting supplies. They have daily deals on pretty much everything, from scrapbooking to fabrics, d?cor to yarn. When a crafts store is necessary, I always go to Joann?s and look for the sales ? combing JoAnn coupons with a storewide sale always results in a steal.

(AP) ? Republicans eagerly looked to showcase Mitt Romney as a man who understands everyday Americans and a leader who can fix the economy, with GOP National Convention speeches Tuesday by the woman who knows him best and tough-talking New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

But with New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast waiting fearfully to see where a massive storm makes landfall, politics became an awkward enterprise and no one knows what sort of party the GOP gathering will turn out to be.

After a one-day weather delay, the convention proceeds according to its latest script: delivering Romney the presidential nomination he fought years to achieve, calling the party to unify around him and setting the stage for the final stretch of the hotly contested campaign to unseat President Barack Obama.

Christie, who delivers Tuesday's keynote address, said that for those Americans who aren't yet sold on Romney, "you start turning it around tonight."

In a round of morning talk-show appearances, Christie said Ann Romney would humanize her husband for the nation, and that his own speech would make the case for GOP economic policies and Romney as the fixer. But ultimately, Christie said, it will up to Romney himself "to let the American people see who he is."

Meeting with Michigan delegates, Christie insisted that an effective president trumps likeability.

"We need somebody who cares more about getting the job done than they care about being temporarily popular with any particular segment of our country," Christie said.

Christie has his own fan club.

"I just love him," said Sandy Barber, a delegate from rural northwest Ohio. "He's plain-talking. He's himself. He's someone who lets his personality come through."

Romney, Barber allowed, "is a different kind of personality. His personality exudes leadership."

Eager to counter Romney's economic pitch to middle-class voters, a super PAC supporting Obama unveiled an ad featuring a small business owner who criticized the candidate's record on job growth as Massachusetts governor.

The Romneys boarded a plane bound for Tampa, but it was a mystery whether the GOP candidate would attend the convention before his big address Thursday night. Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and his family, too, headed for Florida. Ryan delivers his speech Wednesday night.

Already in Tampa: a slew of GOP presidential also-rans: Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain posed for a photo after running into each other at the convention center, Cain joking that the caption could be: "We ain't mad. We support Mitt and Ryan." Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum were on hand too, both with speaking slots.

The high campaign season opens with Romney and Obama about even in the last of the pre-convention polls, with each candidate possessing distinct and important advantages. The Democrat is the more likable or empathetic leader; the Republican is more highly regarded as the candidate who can restore the economy, the top issue for voters.

Ann Romney's convention speech was designed to speak to that divide. It was an important part of the GOP's effort to flesh out her husband and present him to the nation as more than a successful businessman and the former Republican governor of a Democratic state, Massachusetts.

She went about the business of humanizing the Romney family with a taped appearance on "CBS This Morning" in which she talked about the pain of a miscarriage, telling details about the experience that were news even to her husband. The Romneys have five sons.

Isaac, the intensifying tropical storm bordering on a hurricane, skirted Tampa, a big relief for convention organizers worried about the safety of the host city and GOP delegates. But they remain saddled with the question of how to proceed with a political festival ? one devoted both to scoring points against Obama and firing up excitement for Romney ? under the shadow of a dangerous storm crawling toward the Gulf Coast.

Tampa awoke to sunny skies Tuesday while convention planners monitored weather reports for the storm's impact on the Gulf Coast some seven years since Hurricane Katrina devastated the region.

In a reminder of both the storm and the presidency, Obama warned residents of the Gulf Coast to heed warnings from local officials and follow their directions as the storm approached. He delivered brief remarks from the White House.

Organizers essentially cut Monday from the schedule, calling the convention to order just long enough to recess it, and shoehorned their four-day showcase into the remaining three days. But even that was subject to change, depending on Isaac's whims.

Republicans plainly had more at stake in their convention week ? Democrats meet next week in Charlotte, N.C. ? but the Obama campaign also had to recalibrate its tactics as Gulf residents fled their homes or hunkered down. Vice President Joe Biden was called off a Romney-bashing trip to Florida.

That's not to say partisanship has subsided with Isaac's gathering strength. Hardly.

Obama headed to Iowa on Tuesday as the first stop on a campaign trip in which he will make a personal appeal to college voters in three university towns: Ames, Iowa; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Charlottesville, Va.

Awaiting the president in Iowa: An article in the Des Moines Register in which 1996 Republican presidential nominee Bob Dole called Romney and Ryan a "dream ticket."

The two "have a program to turn the economy around that is the most thoughtful and comprehensive I have seen in my lifetime, and I have seen a lot," wrote the 89-year-old Dole.

On Twitter Monday night, Obama circulated a quotation from Women's Health Magazine suggesting that Republicans would take away women's right to contraception, which the Romney campaign denies. "Crazy as it sounds, the fight to limit or even ban birth control is a key issue in the upcoming presidential election," it said.

In a sign of just how stage-managed these conventions have become, the never-dull Christie did something he rarely does before a speech ? wrote down a full text ? as he prepared to deliver the keynote address Tuesday night. "They want you to work off a full text and that's fine," he told MSNBC. "I think my challenge up there is gonna be to be natural and be myself."

An AP-GfK poll of registered voters conducted from Aug. 16-20 found Obama leading Romney 50 percent to 44 percent among women. That represented a narrowing of the gap by Romney since a survey in May, when the president led 54-39 among female voters.

Romney trailed badly among another key group. A Gallup poll taken between July 30 and Aug. 1 found Obama winning 60 percent support among Hispanic voters, and the Republican at 27 percent, little different from 64-29 earlier in the year.

Among seniors, the group most affected by a Medicare debate that has become central to the campaign, Romney led Obama by a margin of 52 percent to 42 percent in the recent AP-GfK poll. That was compared with 53-40 in May.

Isaac Strengthens, Draws Closer to Florida | 5NEWSOnline.com ...

isaac

Miami (CNN) ? As Tropical Storm Isaac moved quickly through the Straits of Florida on Sunday, coastal communities in Florida issued mandatory evacuations and Republicans delayed the start of their national convention.

Residents along the Gulf Coast watched nervously as forecasters said the storm was moving west of its originally predicted path after passing through the Caribbean.

With sustained winds of 60 mph, Isaac lashed Cuba with strong winds and dumped rain on the island early Sunday. No major damage or injuries were immediately reported in Cuba. On Saturday, it slammed Haiti, where at least six deaths were reported.

Heavy rain was already falling in some parts of south Florida, where a tornado watch is in effect until 5 p.m. ET.

The outer bands of the storm extended as far as 205 miles from its center, which was roughly 50 miles southeast of Key West as of 1 p.m. ET.

Lee County, in southwest Florida, ordered residents in six communities, including the popular tourist spot of Fort Myers Beach, to evacuate, citing the possibility of significant storm surge.

The storm is expected to gain strength in the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico and become a hurricane by early Monday as it passes the Florida Keys.

By late Monday afternoon or early evening, Isaac?s eye is expected to be west of Tampa, Florida. It is expected to make landfall again on Wednesday somewhere along the Mississippi coast. By Wednesday ? the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina ? Isaac could be a Category 2 hurricane with winds of at least 96 mph. The hurricane center said areas of the Louisiana coast from Morgan City east are under a hurricane watch. The watch includes New Orleans.

Officials in Plaquemines Parish declared a state of emergency and began preparing for the storm by bolstering levees and adding additional flood protection devices to low-lying highway areas.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott said some areas in his state had no power.

?We are experiencing some minor outages in the southern part of the state,? he said at a news conference in Tampa. He said his main concern for Tampa was no longer a direct hit from Isaac but strong winds from the storm?s reach.

Even with the change in the storm?s predicted track, GOP officials decided to push back Monday?s scheduled start of the Republican National Convention in Tampa by one day, hoping the move will make it safer and easier for delegates to attend.

Some airlines had canceled some flights between airports in south Florida.

In Key West, the southernmost point in the United States and likely the first part of Florida to be hit by Isaac, storefront windows were boarded up, while hotels were largely vacant even though no evacuation orders had been issued.

Some in Key West, though, suggested they were ready and eager to ride out the storm.

?We came down here to have a good time, we?re not going to let a hurricane get in the way,? said Paul Cannella, who is visiting the Keys from Chicago. ?I am a big believer in lifetime experiences, (and) I?ve heard about hurricane parties, so we?re going to have some fun with it.?

Bill Doktor, an iReporter from Punta Gorda, said he had put up hurricane shutters and already started a portable generator.

The rain comes in spurts, he said, pouring down for 15 minutes before subsiding for the rest of the hour.

Scientists from the U.S. Geological Society were concerned that Isaac, headed towards areas hit by Tropical Storm Debby in June, will compound damage done there, especially dune and beach erosion.

?Tropical Storm Debby eroded many beaches along Florida?s west central coast, impacting the property of many gulf-side residents and hotels,? Hilary Stockdon, a USGS oceanographer, said in a written statement. ?Beaches typically take years to recover from severe storm impact.?

A tropical storm warning was in effect for Florida?s east coast from Sebastian Inlet southward to Ocean Reef, and along Florida?s west coast and the panhandle from north of Bonita Beach to Indian Pass, including Tampa Bay.

?The likelihood of hurricane conditions occurring in southeast Florida is decreasing,? the National Hurricane Center said.

?Tropical storm conditions are occurring in the tropical storm warning area along the Florida east coast. Tropical storm conditions are expected to spread northward along the west coast of Florida and into the eastern Florida panhandle in the tropical storm warning area tonight and Monday.?

Sixth deaths in Haiti, recovery efforts under way

As preparations continued in Florida, authorities in Haiti were assessing Isaac?s aftermath.

The storm left at least six people dead when it struck the impoverished Caribbean nation on Saturday, pounding camps where hundreds of thousands of people live in tents.

The country is still recovering from a devastating earthquake that struck more than two years ago, and its challenges are compounded by the fact it is led by a relatively new government with limited resources. All that said, the top U.N. humanitarian official in the nation praised the initial response efforts.

?So far, I think we?re faring reasonably well in our response,? Kevin Kennedy said Saturday, referring to the efforts of the Haitian government, U.N. agencies and nongovernmental organizations.

Haitian radio reported that the worst damage was in the country?s southeast where Isaac made landfall.

In the city of Jacmel, on Haiti?s southern coast, the storm damaged houses and knocked out power. As many as 1,500 of the city?s residents took refuge in a school serving as a shelter.

Jacmel Mayor Hugues Paul confirmed at least one death on the outskirts of his city, voicing concerns that more deaths will be reported.

A 10-year-old girl also died when a wall fell on her house in Thomazeau, near Port-au-Prince, the country?s civil protection agency said.

At the Mega IV camp, where 8,000 Haitians live in makeshift shelters, fallen trees and flooding damaged hundreds of tents. Almost no one evacuated the camp before the storm, and authorities were searching the camp tent by tent for potential victims.

At another camp, Canaan, half the tents were blown away, according to an official statement on the radio.

Haiti?s national electricity supplier at one point said that 30 out of the country?s 32 electricity grids were down.

The storm also damaged the country?s banana crop, the U.N. reported.

After hitting Haiti, Isaac skirted eastern and central Cuba. Cuban officials reported some storm surge and flooding from rain in the far eastern part of the country, and about 200 people were said to be in shelters in the town of Baracoa.

Some of these biggest mistakes are given below; just know about them and try to avoid them:

Many people don?t consider use of moisturizing cream necessary to keep their body hydrated. They just think that drinking sufficient amount of water is enough; but you must know that water contains some chemicals and salts which can make your skin drier. Lack of moisture can lead to cracked, sensitive and itching skin. So you should use moisturizing cream or lotion to hydrate your skin.

Using the moisturizing lotion or cream which doesn?t suit your skin can have harmful affect over the skin. Different types moisturizing products are being developed for different skin types. Applying a cream for oily skin over the dry skin makes skin drier because it contains ingredients that strip the oil away from the skin and make it drier. Use of harsh cleanser to cleanse the body strips away the oil which shields the skin against pollution and other harmful factors for our skin. So always use mild cleaners.

Confusing essential oils with mineral oils is another biggest mistake in skin care. Mineral oils don?t suit oily skin because they can cause skin infections like development of pimples and acne because of blocked pores.
