5 Lessons from Jesus' first miracle: The wedding at Cana

Most Christians are familiar with Jesus' first miracle. He changed water to wine at the wedding at Cana in John 2.

What Christians might not be aware of is that there are lessons we can learn from Jesus' first miracle.

Invitation (John 2:1-2)
Jesus was invited to the wedding at Cana. If we want to experience a miracle, we must first invite Jesus into our lives. If Jesus had not been invited to the wedding, the miracle would not have taken place. The first lesson is to invite Jesus into every area of our lives if we sincerely want His miracles.

Intercession (John 2:3-4)
At the wedding in Cana, when they ran out of wine, Mary the mother of Jesus made it known to Jesus. The second step for a miracle is to intercede before the Lord and to make our requests known to him. We must also take all our burdens to the Lord. Instead of rushing to our family and friends to complain about our need, we must first take it to the Lord. After all, He is the one who can change water into wine.

Instruction (John 2:5)
At the wedding, Mary, the mother of Jesus, told the servants to do whatever Jesus commanded them to do. The third step is to be obedient and do whatever Jesus says to do. It was obedience to the instructions of Jesus that enabled them to experience the miracle. We must obey the instructions that the Lord gives us whether we understand them or not.

Instruments (John 2:6)
At the wedding in Cana, water was the instrument that was available to perform a miracle. The Lord can use whatever is on hand at the time. Leave it up to God to use what is available in your life to perform a miracle.

Inspiration (John 2:7-8)
After Jesus intervened and performed a miracle by turning the water into wine, His disciples believed on Him. The miracle inspired the disciples and caused them to develop a strong faith in the Lord. We must allow every miracle that the Lord performs to become an inspiration to others to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and have a greater and deeper faith in Him.

These five lessons from the wedding at Cana can help you get your miracle Jesus. Remember this was the beginning of many miracles Jesus performed. There is a miracle also available for you if you would avail yourself to receive a miracle.
