Why Women Experience Premature Hair Loss And How To Deal With It ...

It is often said that a women?s hair is her richest ornament, and justified logic. A woman?s lush locks add to her beauty and appeal. It is one of the factors that makes her desirable to the opposite gender. For women, hair and beauty go together, and this notion has prevailed over the millennia. Needless to say,?hair loss in women?can be a disheartening experience. Nearly every woman, without exclusion, is devastated when she experiences medical conditions like sudden hair fall, thinning hair, scalp problems etc. Female hair loss can show itself as mild thinning or profuse and total hair loss, or some where in between. Hair loss can be chronic like Androgenetic Alopecia, which happens mostly in men, or it may be erratic and short-term like Aopecia Areata and Telogen Effluvium.

Female hair loss?is triggered by a number of factors. Typically, hair loss in women occurs because of hormonal irregularities (often with androgens) or because of genetic predisposition. Studies show that adult women who suffer from hair loss have increased levels of the androgen dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT leads to the development of secondary sex traits like deep voice and facial hair in men. Therefore females with higher DHT, mostly have unwanted body hair and also experience varying degrees of hair loss. Furthermore, pregnancy, irregular menses, and menopause are all believed to have some correlation to hair loss in women. Stress is also known to induce and worsen the condition.

Regardless of degree,?hair loss in women causes?anxiety and grief. The social stigma related to alopecia is irritating. A large fraction of adult women who are experiencing hair loss avoid social events because of decreased self-image. ?Not only does hair loss in women result in distress, it could be economically draining too. Females suffering from hair loss spend a great deal of their income on treatment, some quit work altogether.?

The good news is, female hair loss is treatable. Effective stress management will definitely prevent exacerbation and future recurrence. Steroid injections and contact sensitization therapy are particularly useful for people with Alopecia Areata. Antiandrogens and Growth Stimulants are almost always prescribed for those with a definite diagnosis of Androgenetic Alopecia.?

Self medication might worsen the problem. Seeking expert advice before starting any treatment is not just sensible but absolutely essential.
